False Alarm

Well Roland has just let the cat out of the bag. It's all digital. Typical. I can't say that I'm really disappointed though, these things already looked hideous and that's reason enough to turn me off.

  1. Alot of people are now completely uninterested in the Aira products as soon as the words 'Modelling' appeared. Fair enough it's 'new technology', but it is just an extension of digital products attempting to replicate and sound like analogue instruments, which has been happening since the late 80s. I personally think that just making things analogue again is probably better than evolving the concept of digitally creating analogue sounds.

  2. It's just insane... Roland is so out of touch with reality. How could anyone possibly be excited about this junk?

  3. Yeah, Not sure sure if you've seen, but Korg has taken to even re-releasing the original MS-20 in its full size but in a build-your-own style assemble kit, like they used to do in the old days with PAIA instruments. It's much more than the MS-20 mini, but i think its worth it for the full size, i had a go on a mini recently and the keys are just awful.

Korg seem to have a better idea with things than Roland at the moment..

  4. Dear Roland–

    Shut up.
    Make analog gear.
    And shut up.

    Yours,
    Everybody

  5. Haha! So true! I feel like Roland has always been torn between making serious electronic music instruments and wanting to make $ off the American midwest church crowd. Which, in the 70's and early 80's sort of struck the perfect balance (imo). But now they're just in this weird place where their making cutting edge products for, what I can only imagine would be, the rave scene of the mid 90's?

  6. They're designing all these instruments to fit into a scene in The Matrix trilogy.
